{"id":5512,"date":"2023-12-25T11:25:40","date_gmt":"2023-12-25T15:25:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/parmaks.com\/Resources\/5-steps-to-better-leadership-at-work-and-at-home\/"},"modified":"2023-12-25T11:25:40","modified_gmt":"2023-12-25T15:25:40","slug":"5-steps-to-better-leadership-at-work-and-at-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/parmaks.com\/Resources\/5-steps-to-better-leadership-at-work-and-at-home\/","title":{"rendered":"5 Steps to Better Leadership at Work and at Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/hop.clickbank.net\/?affiliate=infohatch&amp;vendor=J1R2C\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10614 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/parmaks.com\/Resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/profit-gen400px.png\" alt=\"Profit Gen\" width=\"400\" height=\"217\" srcset=\"http:\/\/parmaks.com\/Resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/profit-gen400px.png 400w, http:\/\/parmaks.com\/Resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/profit-gen400px-300x163.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div itemprop=\"text\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">For years, I was guilty of a being a poor leader. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Fortunately, my friend, Matt Smith\u2014both my business partner at ETR and the CEO of <a href=\"http:\/\/RoyaltyExchange.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RoyaltyExchange.com<\/a>\u2014taught me how to be a better leader.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Matt showed me how to lead \u201ccool and calm conversations\u201d with team members that showed I care, coached them to better performance, made their success smoother, and grew the team to greater performance each and every week.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">This process is used in one very important meeting\u2014the GS&amp;R.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s2\">(Last year Matt put together <\/span><span class=\"s3\">a series of meeting videos for our ETR University members that cover some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.etruniversity.com\/store\/WzypBBZ3\/?utm_ad=56800&amp;utm_placement=160&amp;utm_medium=212\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">best approaches to GS&amp;R<\/a><\/span><span class=\"s4\">.<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">These leadership videos aren\u2019t just good for your business; they are also great for your family, as I\u2019ll explain below.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.earlytorise.com\/1-meeting-need-10x-growth\/\">GS&amp;R<\/a> stands for \u201cGoal, Set, &amp; Review.\u201d While it\u2019s designed to help coach your team members to peak performance at work, you can also use it in any number of environments\u2014school, home, extra-curricular activities, non-profit organizations, community activities, and so on.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">Here\u2019s how it works: The coach or manager guides each team member through the identification of his or her top three action items for the week, how to achieve them, how to overcome obstacles in the way, and how (or who) to ask for help so that they can say, \u201cmission accomplished!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">Team members are not the only ones doing the work, however. As a leader\u2014both at home and in your business\u2014you need to bring your BEST self to every meeting, too.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s6\">That means implementing the 5 Pillars of Success in your management duties:<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Pillar #1 \u2013 Better Planning and Preparation Than Ever Before<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">Whether you are making coaching calls, leading team member meetings, or planning sessions with your children, you must review last week\u2019s meeting notes so you are fully prepared. Do the work. Come prepared. Identify the obstacles in advance and plan solutions for each. Be clear on the measurable outcomes of the meeting, and the measurable outcomes of each member\u2019s weekly performance.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Pillar #2 \u2013 Professional Accountability\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">Be the boss. Leading a meeting is about more than just sitting at the head of the table\u2014it\u2019s about clearly setting the agenda, stating the parameters for each project, starting and finishing on time, and being decisive. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">Of course, you want to be open to feedback and suggestions, but it\u2019s up to you to set the tone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">Above all, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.earlytorise.com\/i-have-no-confidence-so-this-is-what-i-do\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">s<\/a><\/span><span class=\"s7\">how up with confidence. <\/span><span class=\"s1\">As you grow the people on your team, allow them to take more on their plates. Identify what they do BETTER than you, and let them flourish!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s7\">When it comes to leadership, always keep these keywords in mind:\u00a0c<\/span><span class=\"s1\">ommunication, decisiveness, mastery of self, and leading from the front.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Pillar #3 \u2013 Positive Social Support<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">Following each meeting, check in daily with your team members to make sure they are on track. Help them understand that you are in this together. Your mutual relationship is supportive, not adversarial. You\u2019re both on the same team, after all, and you\u2019re working together to help the company flourish.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Pillar #4 \u2013 Meaningful Incentive<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Team members don\u2019t work for you just for the money. We all want to be part of something bigger than ourselves. (That\u2019s why we join movements and become irrationally attached to sports teams.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"> You must dig deep and lean into conversations to find out what drives your team members. Identify their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.earlytorise.com\/the-truth-about-motivation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">true motivations<\/a> and show them how a job well-done will reap benefits that truly matter to them.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Pillar #5 \u2013 The BIG Deadline<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As you finish your GS&amp;R meetings, clearly articulate the jobs to be done over the week ahead. Be sure you define clear deadlines\u2014alongside consequences for projects that are not completed on time. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">These hard-and-fast deadlines are important for three reasons: they get your team members going at the start; they keep them going when the going gets tough; and they make them move faster as the deadline approaches.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>#<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">With these 5 Pillars in place, you can grow your team, your family, and your coaching clients.
