That paycheck covered the cost of shooting his $7,000 film <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Mariachi-English-Subtitled-Carlos-Gallardo\/dp\/B008Y7IV4S\/?tag=offsitoftimfe-20\"><em>El Mariachi<\/em><\/a>, which won the coveted Audience Award at the 1993 Sundance Film Festival and became the lowest budget movie ever released by a major studio.
