These things may come and go with time, like jobs, friends, and hobbies. Finally, the sand represents things that may bring you temporary fulfillment, such as watching a movie or scrolling through social media, but ultimately don\u2019t add value to your life.<\/p>\n<p>The lesson to take from this exercise is that if you put sand into the jar first (i.e. you fill all of your time with immediately gratifying tasks such as watching reruns on television), you will run out of room for rocks and pebbles (more meaningful activities). So to manage your time wisely, consider how much time you\u2019re devoting to the rocks or wasting on the sand in your life. With the right balance, you can spend your time in a way that will be beneficial in the long run.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-4-the-six-of-clubs\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4_The_Six_of_Clubs\"\/><a\/>4. Without putting too much thought into it, he or she should be able to flip right to it. The other person, however, will need to glance at each card individually without knowing what card to expect next.<\/p>\n<p>You can compare these decks with 2 schedules. One is properly structured, and the second one is poorly organized. This game can help one understand the importance of time management.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-5-how-long-is-a-minute\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5_How_Long_Is_a_Minute\"\/><a\/>5. How Long Is a Minute?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h3>\n<p>This is a group exercise that can help participants gauge the accuracy of their perception of time. It is a fun activity that offers a reality check for habitual time wasters.<\/p>\n<p>Pick one leader in a group to keep their eyes open while everyone else closes their eyes. The leader sets a timer for one minute, and participants are instructed to raise their hands when they think one minute has passed. The leader records how far off each person\u2019s estimate is from the one-minute mark.<\/p>\n<p>The group members probably won\u2019t all raise their hands at the same time.\u00a0 The key takeaway from the exercise is that everyone has a unique perception of time, and some activities may take longer than you initially estimated. Delegation<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h3>\n<p>For this time management activity, players should form groups of three and determine who will be the delegator, the employee, and the observer. The delegator\u2019s job is to identify a task that they don\u2019t enjoy and explain how to complete it to the employee. The observer\u2019s job is to write down how well the delegator explained the task. Finally, the employee\u2019s job is to explain the task back to them after it has been explained.<\/p>\n<p>Each player should rotate their position so everyone has a chance to play every role. If you don\u2019t take the time to acknowledge your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.developgoodhabits.com\/power-of-small-wins\/\" data-lasso-id=\"41885\">everyday wins (even when they\u2019re small<\/a>), you may lose momentum or motivation to keep working as hard as you do.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, recognizing something that was a distraction or a \u201ctime waster\u201d can help you be more mindful of how you\u2019re spending your time every day. And, once you pair this with something you wanted to accomplish but didn\u2019t,\u00a0it highlights the opportunity cost\u00a0that the distraction caused you to forgo.<\/p>\n<p>You may be surprised at all of the things you\u2019re accomplishing in one day\u2013or you may recognize that you\u2019re wasting too much time on meaningless tasks.
