Eat the Frog<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.developgoodhabits.com\/stop-procrastinating\/\" data-lasso-id=\"63062\">We have talked about the concept of \u201ceating the frog\u201d in previous posts<\/a>, and it\u2019s a constructive thing to add to your morning routine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Brian Tracy\u2019s book, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B01MYEM8SZ?tag=dghcontentkindle-20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow sponsored noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"63063\" data-lasso-name=\"Amazon\">Eat That Frog!<\/a>, he suggests that the most productive way to start your day is to \u201ceat that frog\u201d, which is inspired by a Mark Twain quote:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf the first thing you do each morning is to eat a live frog, you can go through the day with the satisfaction of knowing that that is probably the worst thing that is going to happen to you all day long.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The idea here is that if you get the hardest or most dreaded task out of the way <em>first<\/em>, you can move on to the less daunting things on your to-do list, knowing that you\u2019ve already done that one thing that you would have probably wasted time making up excuses to avoid doing it later on.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Committing yourself to your hardest task right away will make your other obligations seem simple.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For me, this is returning phone calls. I often dread returning people\u2019s calls at work because it usually feels like the communication could be done much more efficiently (and succinctly) through email. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, many of my clients <em>don\u2019t use <\/em>email, so we have to resort to talking on the phone. And, for some of my clients, I know I will literally waste time sitting at my desk, <em>phone in hand<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.developgoodhabits.com\/causes-of-procrastination\/\" data-lasso-id=\"63064\">actively procrastinating<\/a>, and\u00a0 just. not. dialing.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By getting these calls out of the way first thing in the morning, I rarely have anything<a href=\"https:\/\/www.developgoodhabits.com\/best-to-do-list-app\/\" data-lasso-id=\"63065\"> left on my to-do list for the day<\/a> that\u2019s holding me back.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This advice is especially great for those who have some really difficult responsibilities to complete that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.developgoodhabits.com\/build-power-focus\/\" data-lasso-id=\"63066\">require a lot of focus<\/a> and brain power, but it works for dreaded tasks as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-10-review-your-vision-board\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"10_Review_Your_Vision_Board\"\/>10. Review Your Vision Board<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You put time and effort into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.developgoodhabits.com\/vision-board-party\/\" data-lasso-id=\"63067\">hosting the party<\/a>, you\u2019ve <a href=\"https:\/\/www.developgoodhabits.com\/make-vision-board\/\" data-lasso-id=\"63068\">created your vision board<\/a>, you\u2019ve displayed it somewhere that\u2019s easy for you to see, now it\u2019s time to use it as you intended to.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By intentionally reviewing your vision board as part of your daily morning routine, you will prompt the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelawofattraction.com\/what-is-the-law-of-attraction\/\" data-lasso-id=\"63069\">Law of Attraction<\/a>, bringing the people, opportunities, and resources into your life that you need in order to make progress <a href=\"https:\/\/www.developgoodhabits.com\/weekly-goals\/\" data-lasso-id=\"63070\">toward reaching your goals<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Engaging in daily visualization practices will also help you recognize available resources that may have always been there, but have gone unnoticed. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Looking at your vision board in the morning will<a href=\"https:\/\/www.developgoodhabits.com\/no-motivation\/\" data-lasso-id=\"63071\"> naturally motivate you to take actions <\/a>that will move you closer to living your ideal life. And before you know it, you\u2019ll be experiencing the payoffs of your hard work.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-11-read-the-entire-newspaper\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"11_Read_the_Entire_Newspaper\"\/>11. Read the Entire Newspaper<strong\/><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This sounds like a bit more than I could commit to doing, but some people swear by it. NFL Hall-of-Famer and founder of GoSmallBiz.com and Tarkenton Companies, Fran Tarkenton, has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/successful-people-share-morning-routines-2015-4#nfl-hall-of-famer-fran-tarkenton-has-followed-the-same-morning-routine-for-decades-9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"63072\">done this for decades<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tarkenton reports that he reads an entire newspaper each morning\u2013but not just his local newspaper\u2013 he reads a diverse selection to get different perspectives and viewpoints on everything going on in the world that may impact his life and business. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Furthermore, he says that he doesn\u2019t leave any part out\u2013even the sections that he finds to be boring\u2013<strong>because he finds that <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.developgoodhabits.com\/autodidact\/\" data-lasso-id=\"63073\"><strong>learning new information<\/strong><\/a><strong> is an essential part of his day.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reading the entire newspaper can be beneficial because it offers information at levels of detail that TV sound bites or short headlines cannot adequately explain. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It affords readers a wide range of information regarding evolving news <em>and <\/em>puts it in context. Look For Coupons<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whether you have plans for the day to go out and buy a household necessity or you\u2019re shopping around for a good deal on something that you just <em>want<\/em>, you might as well use any available coupons to help save some money. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you get the newspaper, look in there for coupons and sales\u2013or just go online and see what you can find. Some helpful sites to visit to get the best coupons include:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Remember, if you come across a <em>really <\/em>good deal, but you don\u2019t have a need for the item that\u2019s on sale,<em> don\u2019t buy it<\/em>. <strong>It can be tempting to take advantage of a great deal, but unless you need whatever you\u2019re buying, you\u2019re really just wasting money.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And, while you\u2019re online\u2026<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-19-scan-your-local-buy-sell-facebook-groups\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"19_Scan_Your_Local_BuySell_Facebook_Groups\"\/>19. Scan Your Local Buy\/Sell Facebook Groups<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A lot of cities have a \u201cbuy nothing\u201d group for people who want to get rid of things (clothes, appliances, furniture, etc.) that are too nice to throw away, but they don\u2019t want to go through the trouble of taking to a donation center. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>These groups help promote a positive sense of community by allowing people to help others who live in their immediate area.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When my daughter started growing out of some of the more expensive baby items (such as her Pack \u2018n Play, mamaRoo, and a TON of clothes) I put them on my local \u201cbuy nothing\u201d Facebook page and these items were all out of my way within hours, as local moms jumped at the chance to obtain these necessities for free.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You will also be able to find garage sale sites on Facebook for your city where you can buy items at greatly discounted prices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Browsing these Facebook pages on a daily basis can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.developgoodhabits.com\/better-money-habits\/\" data-lasso-id=\"63094\">help you save major money<\/a> in the long run, especially if you are in the market for a specific item that you expect is going to cost you a lot of money.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-healthy-morning-routine-ideas\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Healthy_Morning_Routine_Ideas\"\/>Healthy Morning Routine Ideas<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<h2 id=\"h-20-weigh-yourself-every-day\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"20_Weigh_Yourself_Every_Day\"\/>20. Complete a 7-Minute Workout<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p class=\"has-very-light-gray-background-color has-background wp-block-paragraph\">Required Time: <strong>7 minutes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A great way to start or end your day is to use an app like <a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/7-minute-workout\/id650762525?mt=8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-tcb-events=\"\" data-lasso-id=\"63116\">7 Minute Workout<\/a>, which acts like a personal trainer that guides you through a 12-exercise total-body workout.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just fire up the app and complete the recommend exercises. (You might have to buy a few pieces of equipment ahead of time to get the real value from this app.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also, you should consider upgrading to their \u201cAll the Things\u201d level, which gives you a few different program options:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Arms<\/li>\n<li>Cardio<\/li>\n<li>Core<\/li>\n<li>Pilates<\/li>\n<li>Toning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you alternate between these options with each stack, you\u2019ll get a decent amount of exercise that\u2019s better than what most people do during their day.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-33-exercise-your-brain\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"33_Exercise_Your_Brain\"\/>33. Exercise Your Brain<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are so many benefits to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.developgoodhabits.com\/memory-games-adults\/\" data-lasso-id=\"63117\">playing brain games<\/a>, and doing so in the morning is the perfect way to fire up your brain and prepare yourself for the rest of the day. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Doing brain exercises isn\u2019t just for the aging population, it\u2019s important for people of any age to be intentional about keeping their brains sharp and active.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC2923489\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"63118\">Research has shown<\/a> that the key to long-term success when it comes to cognitive function is performing a wide variety of mental activities, so your brain is required to work in new ways. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just like you want to engage and challenge more than one muscle when you\u2019re exercising your body, <strong>you need to keep more than one part of your brain active so it stays sharp<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Playing brain games is a good primer for a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.developgoodhabits.com\/continuous-learning\/\" data-lasso-id=\"63119\"> life of continuous learning<\/a>, as it will keep your brain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.developgoodhabits.com\/learning-pyramid\/\" data-lasso-id=\"63120\">used to embracing (and remembering) new information<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are on auto-pilot all day (which many people are), your brain won\u2019t be challenged. Although it\u2019s great to have muscle memory and cognitive memorization of some everyday tasks such as driving or checking out at the grocery store, <strong>your brain requires new tests in order to stay fit.<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Playing a variety of brain games will help you maintain your cognitive health so you can work at your optimal level of performance.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-34-replace-one-food-item\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"34_Replace_One_Food_Item\"\/>34. Replace One Food Item<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every morning around 4:30, my 5-year-old calls out for me to bring her a cup of milk. And every morning when I go downstairs to get it, I eat something sweet before going back to bed. I\u2019m not sure <em>why <\/em>I started doing this, but it never fails.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because they\u2019re so easily accessible, I usually grab a handful of M&amp;Ms. This daily\u2013yet also impulsive\u2013snack could so easily be replaced by a handful of grapes, which would be equally as convenient, but a <em>lot <\/em>healthier.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Think about your morning eating habits. It can be hard to resist junk food when you\u2019re tired, but making one substitution could lead to a big difference in the long-run.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A lot of foods have healthy alternatives\u2013even if they don\u2019t seem healthy. For example, if you put margarine on your toast in the morning, you may be surprised to learn <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthline.com\/nutrition\/butter-vs-margarine#what-are-butter-and-margarine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"63121\">that this is not exactly a healthy alternative for real butter. <\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Margarine is a highly processed product made from vegetable oil that includes trans fats, additives, emulsifiers, and colorants.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Butter, on the other hand, is simply made from cow\u2019s milk. And, if you buy high-quality, grass-fed butter, not only does it <em>taste <\/em>better, but it\u2019s actually lower in fat than margarine. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Plus<\/em>, it contains a remarkable amount of nutrients, such as omega 3 fats, beta carotene, and vitamins B12, K, D, E, and C. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps best of all, high-quality butter contains conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which is a fatty acid found in meat and dairy that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthline.com\/nutrition\/conjugated-linoleic-acid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"63122\">has a variety of health benefits<\/a>, and is <strong>often used as a weight loss supplement.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want to have <em>really <\/em>good butter, you can easily make it yourself. Just get some high-quality, organic cream and whip it. I prefer to do this in a food processor because you can just pour the cream in and press start and walk away, but you could also do this with a hand mixer. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the cream has turned into butter, you\u2019re also left with fresh buttermilk that has separated from the cream. Eating real butter (in moderation, of course) doesn\u2019t need to be avoided at the cost of consuming unnatural additives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So you can make a substitution like this, which allows you to indulge in a more healthful way, or you could make a more obvious substitution (such as grapes for M&amp;Ms). <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you feel like your morning breakfast is already a pretty solid choice, think about your meal and snack plans for the rest of the day and find somewhere else that you may be able to make a substitution. Here are some ideas:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-icon-list ugb-icon-list ugb-icon--icon-arrow ugb-bee7d9b ugb-icon-list--v2 ugb-main-block\">\n<div class=\"ugb-inner-block\">\n<div class=\"ugb-block-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>Replace oil with applesauce when baking<\/li>\n<li>Choose brown rice over white rice<\/li>\n<li>Switch your regular pasta for multigrain pasta<\/li>\n<li>Use plain Greek yogurt instead of sour cream<\/li>\n<li>Use ground turkey instead of ground beef<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"h-35-stretch\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"35_Stretch\"\/>35. Stretch<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s actually instinctive for people (and other animals) to stretch upon waking up to help increase circulation and activate your muscles, which feels good for your entire body. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Especially if you sleep in the same position all night, your muscles will have a tendency to tighten up. Developing an intentional morning stretching routine can help:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Increase the flexibility in your muscles and joints<\/li>\n<li>Improve circulation<\/li>\n<li>Remove tension<\/li>\n<li>Prevent stress<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your morning stretches increase your muscle and joint flexibility, making it much easier to perform everyday tasks. Additionally, increasing your flexibility helps improve your balance (and therefore reduces your risk of becoming injured) and lowers your chances of developing arthritis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A morning stretching routine will also stimulate your circulation, which in turn gives your energy level a boost. It will also help you get rid of uncomfortable tension, which will<a href=\"https:\/\/www.developgoodhabits.com\/productivity-hacks\/\" data-lasso-id=\"63123\"> help make you more productive<\/a> as you move on with your day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you stretch in the morning, hold each stretch for about 30 seconds in order to remove tension and to give your muscles the time that they need to adequately stretch. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have a place on your body that\u2019s really holding onto some tension, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.developgoodhabits.com\/foam-roller-benefits\/\" data-lasso-id=\"63124\">use a foam roller<\/a> to try to work those knots out. After each stretch, relax completely and take a few deep breaths before moving onto the next stretch. Don\u2019t forget to breathe normally during your stretches as well.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-36-take-a-cold-shower\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"36_Take_a_Cold_Shower\"\/>36. Take a Cold Shower<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Start your day off strong and disciplined with a cold shower. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Engaging in \u201ccold water immersion\u201d first thing in the morning can help fire up every organ and nerve in your body. And, since most of us don\u2019t have a pool in the backyard, taking an ice-cold shower is your second best option.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This practice actually <a href=\"https:\/\/bjsm.bmj.com\/content\/44\/3\/179\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"63125\">has physiological benefits<\/a> that will jerk your body into a state of alertness, such as increasing your heart and respiratory rate along with your blood pressure. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It will also help increase your metabolism because this radical change in temperature requires your body to work harder to maintain a stable temperature.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And, some good news for those of you who think the idea of getting into a cold shower as soon as you wake up sounds like probably the worst idea ever, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicalnewstoday.com\/articles\/325725#things-to-be-aware-of\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"63126\">a lot of the research<\/a> that\u2019s been done on the benefits of this practice suggests that the water doesn\u2019t have to be cold for your entire shower in order to experience the positive effects. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just aim to spend between 30 seconds and 2 minutes in water that is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S030698770700566X\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"63127\">about 68 degrees F<\/a> (or 20 degrees C).<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-37-avoid-your-smartphone\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"37_Avoid_Your_Smartphone\"\/>37. Avoid Your Smartphone<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nu.nl\/files\/IDC-Facebook%20Always%20Connected%20(1).pdf?source=post_page---------------------------\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"63128\">Research shows<\/a> that about 80% of people who use a smartphone check it within 15 minutes of waking up. And, yes, there are many ways in which your smartphone can increase your productivity and even improve your quality of life\u2013however, it can also lead to unnecessary stress and distractions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>You should be the commander of your smartphone, your smartphone should not be the commander of you.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People are starting to lose control over their smartphone use, which can quickly have a negative impact on your productivity and mental wellbeing.<strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>If you immediately check your phone upon waking up, you overwhelm your brain with new messages, reminders, emails, and other stimuli that lead to stress and anxiety. <\/strong>This prevents you from having any time to start your day off in a calm way, and instead, makes you immediately feel rushed and anxious.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additionally, by checking your smartphone first thing in the morning, you\u2019re allowing other people\u2019s needs, opinions, and requests to flood your mind. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your own thoughts are dismissed and replaced with the thoughts of others. Rather than proactively starting your day by focusing on your <em>own <\/em>needs, you\u2019re starting by reacting to the needs of others.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead of setting the tone to have a day full of distractions, use your morning for the other suggestions listed in this article to improve yourself, get closer to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.developgoodhabits.com\/goals\/\" data-lasso-id=\"63129\">reaching your goals<\/a>, and prepare for a day of success. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By actively avoiding your smartphone in the morning, you can train your brain to be satisfied with less stimulating (but much more beneficial) undertakings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-38-put-on-your-spf\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"38_Put_on_Your_SPF\"\/>38. Put on Your SPF<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m sure you wear SPF at the beach to avoid getting sunburn, but putting on your sunscreen is an important part of any year-round morning routine because it is an effective <a href=\"https:\/\/eheintl.com\/skin_cancer_foundation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"63130\">preventive measure<\/a> to avoid health issues down the road. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even on cloudy days, you can soak up 80% of the sun\u2019s damaging rays, so it\u2019s best to put on sunscreen no matter what the forecast is. In fact, snow can even reflect up to 80% of ultraviolet rays, increasing your risk of developing sun damage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sunscreen blocks UV rays, which not only helps protect you from getting sunburn, but also reduces your risk of developing skin cancer, which is the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.skincancer.org\/skin-cancer-information\/skin-cancer-facts\/#:~:text=General%20facts,of%20the%20disease%20every%20hour.&amp;text=More%20than%205.4%20million%20cases,year%20new%20statistics%20were%20available.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"63131\"> most common cancer<\/a> worldwide.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-icon-list ugb-icon-list ugb-icon--icon-arrow ugb-4b932b9 ugb-icon-list--v2 ugb-main-block\">\n<div class=\"ugb-inner-block\">\n<div class=\"ugb-block-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>Every year, more people are diagnosed with skin cancer in the U.S. than all other types of cancers combined.<\/li>\n<li>1 in 5 Americans develop skin cancer by the age of 70.<\/li>\n<li>Someone dies from skin cancer every 30 minutes in the U.S.<\/li>\n<li>You double your risk of developing skin cancer later in life if you incur 5 or more sunburns.<\/li>\n<li>About 90% of nonmelanoma skin cancers are caused by exposure to UV rays.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wearing sunscreen also helps protect your skin from premature aging, which includes discoloration, dark spots, wrinkles, sagging, and fine lines. It\u2019s never too early in life to take preventative measures against sun damage, and the more careful you are, the better off you will be. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Using SPF 15 sunscreen every day <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skincancer.org\/skin-cancer-prevention\/sun-protection\/sunscreen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"63132\">can reduce your risk<\/a> of developing <a href=\"https:\/\/skincancer.org\/skin-cancer-information\/squamous-cell-carcinoma\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"63133\">squamous cell carcinoma<\/a> by about 40%, and lower your risk of <a href=\"http:\/\/skincancer.org\/skin-cancer-information\/melanoma\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"63134\">melanoma<\/a> by 50%. You might feel excited one moment but then experience a crash in emotion when something negative happens. One habit that can be used to \u201creset\u201d your motivation is to watch an inspiring video.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You have a few options with watching inspirational videos.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TED Talks are inspiring lectures from the most visionary leaders of our time. They tend to be ten to twenty minutes in length, so you might need to commit to a longer habit, or watch a single video over a few days. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can access these videos directly through the TED website, but they are also accessible on a mobile app (<a data-tcb-events=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/ted\/id376183339?mt=8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"63144\">iTunes<\/a> &amp; <a data-tcb-events=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.ted.android&amp;hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"63145\">Android<\/a>) and through a <a data-tcb-events=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/channelstore.roku.com\/details\/4070\/ted\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"63146\">video streaming service like Roku<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are our favorite TED Talk videos:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On stress management<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If TED Talks aren\u2019t your thing, then you can also find inspirational videos on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.upworthy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-tcb-events=\"\" data-lasso-id=\"63151\">Upworthy<\/a> or your favorite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-tcb-events=\"\" data-lasso-id=\"63152\">YouTube<\/a> channel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I recommend limiting your viewing time. It\u2019s far too easy to turn a five-minute break into several hours of passively watching videos. My suggestion: Stick to one video per break.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-41-add-to-your-soon-list\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"41_Add_to_Your_%E2%80%9CSoon_List%E2%80%9D\"\/>41. Add to Your \u201cSoon List\u201d<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p class=\"has-very-light-gray-background-color has-background wp-block-paragraph\">Required Time: <strong>5 minutes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Make a list of twenty fun and enjoyable things you want in the next three months. This is <em>not<\/em> a goals list.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead, it\u2019s a list of fun or even odd things you can enjoy by yourself or with others. If you have coupons laying around, check the expiration date on them and toss any that you can no longer use.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Having loose papers around can make you feel extremely unorganized because it displays all the loose ends that you need to tie up. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You may want to designate a drawer or compartment as an \u201cI\u2019ll deal with this later\u201d area.
