\u201cI have a question for you concerning my ego.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I feel like my ego is here to protect me.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Anytime something goes wrong in my life or someone does something to hurt me my ego will surface.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My ego will justify the poor behavior of others, or tell me I\u2019m too smart and that\u2019s why people are intimidated by me, or my ego will make me aware that I am right and that there is no superior answer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Is this wrong?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Why can\u2019t my ego exist with my true self?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I hate to give up my ego because I feel I won\u2019t have protection from the cruelty of the world.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

The ego doesn\u2019t try to protect the real you, it tries to protect itself.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Your essential self is infinite and invincible.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It doesn\u2019t need protecting or defending.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Your ego self feels inherently weak and unsafe.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In fact, the ego really isn\u2019t anything at all.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The separate self is nothing more than the activity of defending, resisting, and seeking.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As long as you feel the need to protect yourself from the world, you are the separate ego self.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s why the ego as your center of selfhood cannot co-exist with the true self.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When you are simply your knowing presence of awareness, you are your true self and do not need to be protective or protected.<\/span><\/p>\n
