It felt like the antithesis of that.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI\u2019m just supposed to do nothing?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cFor 8 hours?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAnd that\u2019s good for you?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWhat if I just didn\u2019t do that and worked more?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>That seems like a better deal to me.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe it\u2019s me getting older, maybe it\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/impossiblefitness.com\">finding better training routines<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/impossiblehq.com\/impossible-foods-lawsuit-statement\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"26191\">maybe it\u2019s billion dollar corporations that want to sue me<\/a>. But one way or another I\u2019ve stubbornly been working on it the past few years.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve tried a bunch of stuff. From <a href=\"https:\/\/impossible.co\/blogs\/health\/melatonin-side-effects\">melatonin<\/a> to stuff that \u201cputs you out\u201d to other branded supplements with proprietary formulas that do more for the brand than they do they do for your sleep.<\/p>\n<p>So I dove into the science of sleep and landed on two ingredients that consistently perform.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Magnesium<\/strong> \u2013 promotes deep sleep, muscular function and athletic recovery.<\/li>\n<li><strong>L-theanine<\/strong> \u2013 helps dim the lights for high performers and people who have a hard time \u201cturning it off.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This was dramatically simpler than most products I\u2019ve tried in the past, but mapped to my experiences as well.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve used magnesium for years as an athlete (I have an entire rant on how everyone is under-supplemented on this in general that I\u2019ll save for another time). It\u2019s always helped my recovery, but never helped me actually falling asleep. I\u2019d stare at the ceiling for an hour or two before finally subsiding.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>L<strong>-theanine<\/strong> unlocked that for me. It helps \u201cdim the lights\u201d or as a friend said \u201cgo from a 1 to zero\u201d when you need to wind things down for the night.<\/p>\n<p>Conveniently, this formula also maps directly to what neuroscientists like Andrew Huberman recommends as a sleep cocktail \u2013 all in one nighttime drink.<\/p>\n<p>The first mix is a slightly sweet strawberry flavor that\u2019s both delicious effective.
