\u201cI would like to ask about a sense of familiarity, a sense of knowing a person whom you have not previously known.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I recently met someone briefly with whom I felt this way and I\u2019m trying to understand it.<\/span><\/p>\n

This person will be moving away shortly so I am confused as to what purpose there was for me to have met this person for such a short time when it is causing me sadness that I won\u2019t be able to know them any longer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m pregnant so there\u2019s the initial excuse that everyone gives which is that it\u2019s just the hormones.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This doesn\u2019t seem right to me though, since it\u2019s going much deeper than just a simple hormonal mood swing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, I\u2019ve also suffered the loss of a loved one within the last few months so I don\u2019t know if it\u2019s displaced grief or what at this point. <\/span>
<\/span>I have had this type of feeling \/ experience before, similar to when you travel somewhere new and you feel like you\u2019ve been there before or it just feels like home.<\/span><\/p>\n

This certainly does not happen with every human or animal I meet but it has happened a number of times and I would be very appreciative of any insights you have.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>

That sense of familiarity with someone you do not have any previous history with that you can remember, is an experience that I think many people can relate to.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Even without being pregnant or having recently suffered the loss of a loved one, when you connect with another person who elicits deep memories of intimacy and closeness, it will often bring up those feelings of familiarity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If those feelings remind you of a time that you still long for or a situation that was left unresolved, then it only stands to reason that you will feel sad at the prospect of this person now moving away.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If that sadness does not resolve on its own easily, then you might want to explore it a little more to help get to the source so you can release it completely.<\/span><\/p>\n
