But King wasn’t born a writer.<\/p>\n

He wrote stories as a teenager and college student, collecting a vast backlog of rejected stories he stored in a large crate.<\/p>\n

King worked as a teacher in rural Maine when he wrote his first novel, \u201cCarrie<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n

By this time King had some minor success selling short stories previously, but nothing that anyone could build a career around.<\/p>\n
