I have very controlling and conservative parents thus leading to a very unhappy childhood and adulthood.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I cannot recall any time when I have been really happy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I have had my share of recurring unsuccessful relationships.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I have been on antidepressants for half my adulthood. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I do not know what my purpose in life is, whether I will ever be happy, or whether I will ever be in a relationship again.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I sense from your letter a passive approach to your life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You seem to think that happiness and purpose are things that come your way or not.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, if you take the position that happiness is something you realize and create from your present experience, then you will no longer be dependent on anyone else for your well-being.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Follow a spiritual practice or meditation technique that will give you direct access to your inner creativity and strength.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Then find channels of activity to express that life energy with others and into the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

It can be almost anything that you love and are good at.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When you start doing that, happiness will be the natural outcome.<\/span><\/p>\n
