But what are you going to do differently during this upcoming year to really improve yourself in every area of your life?<\/p>\n<p>In this article, we will look at 23 goal ideas that you can set for a better 2024 to give you some ideas of objectives you can set for yourself to make sure that you\u2019re heading in the direction that you ultimately want to go. <\/p>\n<p>But first, let\u2019s talk about why you should set SMART goals for 2024 and review what SMART goals entail.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-you-should-set-smart-goals-for-2024\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_You_Should_Set_SMART_Goals_for_2024\"\/>Why You Should Set SMART Goals for 2024<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p>I was taken by surprise recently when I mentioned SMART goals in a meeting at work and several people didn\u2019t know what I was talking about.<\/p>\n<p>I thought that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.developgoodhabits.com\/smart-goal-setting\/\" data-lasso-id=\"76606\">SMART goals<\/a> had become somewhat of a buzzword in the professional arena, and certainly something that everyone was at least <em>kind of<\/em> familiar with. <\/p>\n<p>After implementing SMART goals into my own life, it\u2019s no wonder why people don\u2019t follow through with their goals.\u00a0 Without a sense of direction or accountability, goals are easily abandoned without a second thought.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, it\u2019s not surprising that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inc.com\/marla-tabaka\/why-set-yourself-up-for-failure-ditch-new-years-resolution-do-this-instead.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"76607\">research shows<\/a> that 80% of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.developgoodhabits.com\/resolutions-goals\/\" data-lasso-id=\"76608\">new year\u2019s resolutions<\/a> are forgotten by February 15th. So if you\u2019re planning on losing weight, saving money, or learning a new skill, you better have a plan. Not only will you know exactly how much progress you\u2019ve made at any point along the way because you\u2019re tracking something that is quantifiable, you\u2019ll also always feel like the next milestone is within reach. <\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll never feel like you\u2019re in over your head or you don\u2019t know what to do next. And, whatever that next step is, you will <em>want <\/em>to take it because your goal is <strong>relevant <\/strong>to your larger objectives in life.<\/p>\n<p>Not only will you be motivated to achieve your goal because it\u2019s a stepping stone to achieving something bigger (think: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.developgoodhabits.com\/big-hairy-audacious-goals\/\" data-lasso-id=\"76614\">big hairy audacious goals<\/a>), you will also be motivated knowing that your goal is <strong>time-bound<\/strong> and you have a deadline approaching.<\/p>\n<p>Rather than having a poorly constructed goal that can make you feel defeated when you don\u2019t see results, the key to success is to make a plan and stick to it by creating SMART goals. And whatever your aspirations are, setting effective goals can help you get there.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-set-yearly-smart-goals\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Set_Yearly_SMART_Goals\"\/>How to Set Yearly SMART Goals<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p>The first thing you need to do is to identify your goal, believe you can achieve it, and write it down.
