As one experiences the non-local realm of consciousness in meditation, the presence of the higher self gradually reclaims various domains of the mind that have previously been under the sway of the ego or conditioned personality. So yes, one can switch between areas of experience that are either dominated by the ego or the silent witness Self. In those areas of awareness where there has been a long history of fear or trauma, it will take longer for the non-local consciousness to heal and reclaim. But eventually, all these pockets of resistance are resolved, and the true non-local Self reestablishes itself as one’s essential nature.
